Venture into the Chanchamayo Valley on this excursion from Tarma. Imposing waterfalls, the village of La Merced, and a visit to an Ashaninka community await.
Description
We'll meet at Plaza de Armas de Tarma at the indicated time to begin our journey to explore the nature of the Chanchamayo Valley.
First, we will cross the small towns of Acobamba and Palca. We will experience the changing landscape of the Chanchamayo Valley, which is home to various species of orchids and butterflies and serves as the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon.
Upon arrival, we will disembark from the minibus and embark on a hike through the jungle to visit key attractions, including the El Cabello del Angel waterfalls and the Ducha del Diablo (Devil's Shower). We will then cross the Túnel de la Virgen to reach San Ramón, set between the Tarma and Tulumayo rivers.
The next stop will be El Tirol waterfall, ideal for photographs and exploration of the wild flora and fauna. We will then proceed to La Merced.
You will enjoy a panoramic view of the Indio Dormido (Sleeping Indian) and cross the Reither Bridge into the city, where you have an hour of free time for lunch. Subsequently, we will visit an Asháninka native community to learn about their ancestral customs.
The tour culminates with a visit to a coffee processor to understand this important product, concluding our 10-hour tour back in Tarma.
