Embark on an adventure through the Chanchamayo Valley during this trip from Tarma. Prepare to be amazed by stunning waterfalls, the charming village of La Merced, and an insightful visit to an Ashaninka community.

Description

Your journey begins at the Plaza de Armas de Tarma, where we'll gather at the scheduled time to set off on an engaging exploration of the natural beauty that defines the Chanchamayo Valley.

Our route will take us through the quaint villages of Acobamba and Palca. As we travel, you'll witness the transformation of the landscape, rich in diverse species of orchids and butterflies. This area serves as the entrance to the Peruvian Amazon, a fact that adds to its allure.

Upon arrival, we'll disembark from the minibus and begin a hiking adventure through the jungle, uncovering major attractions including the breathtaking El Cabello del Angel waterfalls and the famous Ducha del Diablo (Devil’s Shower). Our path will lead us through the Túnel de la Virgen to reach San Ramón, a pivotal town located between the Tarma and Tulumayo rivers.

Next, we will stop at the scenic El Tirol waterfall, an ideal backdrop for photographs and an opportunity to further explore the local wildlife and vegetation. Continuing on, we'll make our way to La Merced, another key town within the Chanchamayo Valley.

As we approach, we will enjoy a panoramic vista of the Indio Dormido (Sleeping Indian) and cross the Reither Bridge into the town. Here, you will have an hour of leisure to replenish in one of the local restaurants. Following this break, our next experience will be a visit to an Asháninka native community, where you'll gain insights into the ancient traditions of this Amazonian tribe.

To conclude our excursion, we will tour a coffee processing facility to discover the intricacies of this valuable product—an enriching end to our day of exploration.

We will wrap up our journey by returning to the original starting point in Tarma after a full day of approximately 10 hours.
