Day Trip to Villa Rica & the Oconal Lagoon

Join us for a day trip to Villa Rica and the El Oconal Lagoon, the coffee capital of the Pasco region, where we will explore its natural wonders and enjoy a boat ride.

What's in store:

Our adventure begins after meeting at Tarma's Plaza de Armas at the scheduled time, starting our excursion to Villa Rica and the El Oconal Lagoon.

We will traverse the province of Oxapampa, a region historically inhabited by three cultures—the Campas, the Amueshas, and the Cashibos. Along the way, we will share insights into the heritage of these indigenous communities.

Our first destination is Villa Rica, known for being one of Peru's coffee capitals. A guided tour will explore its landmarks, such as the wooden chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Plaza de Armas.

Before leaving Villa Rica, we will visit a local coffee farm to learn about Peru's coffee production, from cultivation to processing.

Next, we will travel to the El Oconal Lagoon, a wetland area rich in plant and wildlife. This will be an opportunity to take photos of the landscapes and biodiversity. We will also enjoy a traditional boat ride across the lagoon.

To conclude our lagoon experience, we will have an ichthyotherapy session. On our return to Tarma, we will visit the El León waterfall.

After approximately 14 hours, we will conclude our excursion back at the starting point.
