Join us to discover an important city in Peru on this tour to Huánuco, including the archaeological site of Kotosh.
Description
We will meet at the Plaza de Armas in Tarma at the specified time to start our tour to Huánuco and Kotosh. After approximately five hours of travel, we will arrive in Huánuco and stop at a cafe for breakfast.
We will then begin a guided tour around Huánuco, exploring the Plaza de Armas, home to the modern Huánuco cathedral, resting place of “el Señor de Burgos,” the city’s patron saint. Next, we will visit the Daniel Alomía Robles Mausoleum, dedicated to the composer of "El Cóndor Pasa." We will cross the Calicanto bridge to see the San Cristóbal colonial Church and the San Francisco Church.
After our visit in Huánuco, we will head to the archaeological site of Kotosh, known for being one of the oldest temples in Peru, where we will see its ruins and the Temple of Crossed Hands.
Then we will go to Pillco Mozo, the eternal guardian of Huánuco, where we will explain the local legend. You will have an hour of free time to eat at local restaurants.
Afterward, we will visit Casa de la Perricholi, the home of a notable local actress. Finally, we will stop at Hacienda Cachigaga to learn about drinks made from sugar cane, tasting traditional products, and continue at Casa Hacienda de Andabamba and Casa de los Artesanos.
We will return to Tarma 12 hours after the starting time.
