On this tour of the churches of Taxco, we will explore the significant religious sites of this Mexican city and uncover the history and symbolism within them.
Taxco Churches Tour
We will meet at the scheduled time on Calle Benito Juarez. The tour of the main temples of Taxco begins, allowing us to enter each temple to learn about their history and symbolism.
The first stop will be the Templo de Veracruz, constructed in the 19th century in honor of Santo Cristo de la Veracruz, one of Taxco's venerated symbols, also called "El General."
Next, we will visit the Parish Church of San Miguel Arcángel, one of the oldest churches in the city, dating back to the 16th century, which was originally dedicated to San Sebastián. We will also stop at the Chapel of San Nicolás, the patron saint of Taxco, noted for its tradition of giving out bread rolls on his feast day.
The tour continues to the Temple of the Holy Trinity and the Temple of Chavarrieta, recognized as one of the most beautiful sacred structures in the area. Before concluding, we will visit the former Convent of San Bernardino de Siena, known for its collection of saint images.
To complete the tour, we will enter the Church of Santa Prisca, a colonial monument and symbol of Taxco. After a total of 3 hours, we will conclude the tour in front of this renowned temple.
