Embark on an unforgettable 2-day adventure through Jordan, exploring two iconic destinations: Petra and Wadi Rum. This journey also features flights that connect Tel Aviv to Eilat, ensuring a swift transition while minimizing lengthy road travel.
Itinerary
Day 1: Tel Aviv - Aqaba - Wadi Rum
At the specified time, make your way to Ben Gurion Airport for your flight that will take you from Tel Aviv to southern Israel in a brief 1-hour journey. This flight dramatically reduces the travel time compared to a road trip, which could take approximately 6 hours.
Upon arrival at Ramon International Airport, located a short distance from Eilat, a bus will be ready to transport you across the border into Jordan towards the coastal city of Aqaba. Here, take a leisurely walk through the quaint alleys until you reach an Ottoman fortress, providing breathtaking views overlooking Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia—four nations visible at once!
After a break for lunch, we will proceed to one of the highlights of the day. Transfers to a 4x4 vehicle will allow us to delve into the beauty of the Wadi Rum desert.
Did you know that Wadi Rum is recognized as a World Heritage Site and is often referred to as the Valley of the Moon? We will uncover the mysteries of this vast landscape and marvel at its stunning formations, including the Seven Pillars of Wisdom and the Arch of Um Furth.
Concluding our day, the off-road vehicles will bring us to the camp for our overnight stay. As night falls, enjoy a captivating sunset over the dunes followed by a delightful dinner, providing the perfect end to a remarkable day!
Day 2: Wadi Rum - Petra - Tel Aviv
Prepare to join the ranks of those who have explored the wonders of Petra! On the second day, after breakfast, we'll travel by bus to Petra, the most renowned archaeological site in Jordan. If you wish, you may purchase a light breakfast picnic for the 1.5-hour ride.
As we arrive, we’ll navigate through the Siq Gorge, which will lead us to the breathtaking sight of the Rose City. A guided tour will take us through the unique features of Petra, a site celebrated as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
Petra was once the vibrant capital of the Nabataeans. But who were they? What beliefs guided them? What led to their eventual demise? Together, we'll delve into their intriguing history, reaching back over 2300 years as we explore the magnificent temples and tombs of Petra.
You will have two hours of free time to explore Petra at your own pace before we break for lunch and then prepare to return to Eilat. A flight back to Tel Aviv is scheduled, with an expected arrival at Ben Gurion Airport around 10 PM. Until we meet again!
