Description
Join us at the Fray Junipero Serra hotel in Tepic at the designated time, and embark on a trip towards the Aguamilpa hydroelectric dam, located along the Grande de Santiago riverbed.
Here, we will initiate our exploration of the Huichol or Wixarika culture, one of the few societies that have successfully preserved their ancient indigenous customs. The Huichol community offers a unique perspective shaped by its history, reflected in their traditional clothing, customs, cuisine, and intricate artisan work.
From the Aguamilpa dam, we will board a boat to Anaki, a site of profound sacredness for the Huichol people. Guided by local community members, we will navigate through the ceremonial center and visit the Calli-Huey temple. Here, guests are invited to partake in the Marakame ritual and witness a traditional Huichol dance. These activities promise a deep connection with the essence of this extraordinary culture.
We will then tour a Wixarika handicraft showcase, where you can admire and value true and original artworks. To conclude this remarkable journey, participants will relish a traditional meal of delicious fried fish.
At last, we will return to Tepic after an enlightening and immersive 10-hour experience, completing our remarkable adventure.
