On this day trip, you'll visit the Portuguese city of Chaves and learn about its history.

Chaves Day Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Montalegre and set off for the city of Chaves in the north of Portugal. The journey by 4x4 or minibus will take around 45 minutes.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the exterior of the medieval castle of Chaves, which currently houses a military museum and has witnessed the conflicts between Spain and Portugal.

Next, we will view the facades of the forts of São Francisco and São Neutel, built in the 17th century for the city's defense against the Spanish. The following stop will be the Roman bridge over the Tâmega River, constructed under Trajan, whose arches have remained intact since Roman times.

After this, we'll visit the Estrada Nacional 2 and its Kilometre 0, before heading to the Roman thermal baths, an important site known for its medicinal waters, which are among the warmest in Europe.

After 3 hours on the road, we'll return to Montalegre and take you back to your hotel.
