Join us on a day trip to Vergina and Veria, mixing archaeological exploration with a visit to a significant religious site in Greece.
Day Trip to Vergina & Veria
We'll meet next to the Statue of Venizelos and embark on this excursion to Vergina and Veria. We'll leave Thessaloniki to discover two historically rich cities.
First, we visit Veria, known for its religious history, where St. Paul preached on his second missionary journey. Here, you will have 1 hour of free time to explore the Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches and stroll through the old quarters.
Next, we proceed to Vergina, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom. Upon arrival, we'll visit the New Museum of Aigai, dedicated to ancient Macedonia's history, showcasing artefacts from the city of Egas.
Our next stop is the Museum of the Royal Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will see notable funerary monuments, including the royal tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, along with gold treasures from the 4th century BC.
After exploring the tomb, there will be free time for lunch.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Thessaloniki, arriving 7 hours later.
