Meteora Monasteries Excursion

Do you want to discover the most famous monasteries in Greece? We'll explore the rich history of these holy places, declared World Heritage Sites, on a day trip to Meteora by bus from Thessaloniki.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet below the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos and depart on a bus. After approximately 3 hours, with a short stop for coffee, we'll arrive at the stunning Meteora Monasteries.

During the tour, we'll admire the exteriors of the 6 main monasteries in Meteora, including the Monastery of Saint Stephen known for its sacred wood carvings, and the Monastery of the Holy Trinity featuring 140 steep steps. We will also see Rousanou with its depiction of saint martyrdom, and Varlaam Monastery with notable 16th-century frescoes. The tour will include visits to 2 of the monasteries’ interiors, varying by the day. After the tour, we will visit Kalambaka and Kastraki, where we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

Following the meal, we will return to the meeting point in Thessaloniki, concluding the excursion after 11 hours.
