Come and discover one of Greece's hidden gems on this excursion to Meteora by train and marvel at its monasteries and landscapes.
Meteora Tour by Train
At the indicated time, your train will depart from Thessaloniki Station towards Kalambaka.
Upon arrival at Kalambaka Station, an English-speaking driver will meet you to take you to the Meteora Monasteries, located 20 minutes away. During the drive, the driver will explain the origin and history of this monastic complex designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
At the Meteora Mountains, you will have four hours to visit the monasteries: Great Meteoron, St. Nikolaos, Holy Trinity, St. Stephen, Varlaam, and Roussanou. Each monastery has unique features and art. You will admire the exteriors and visit the interiors of one or two monasteries.
After your visit, the driver will return you to Kalambaka train station, where you can rest until your return train departs. You will arrive back at Thessaloniki Station after a day exploring one of Greece's most beautiful locations.
Visiting the Monasteries
Some monasteries will be closed to the public, except on Saturdays and Sundays when all are open. Notably, the Great Meteoron Monastery is closed on Tuesdays.
