Come and discover one of Greece's hidden gems on this excursion to Meteora by train and marvel at its monasteries and landscapes.
Meteora Tour by Train
At the indicated time, your train will depart from Thessaloniki Station towards Kalambaka.
At the exit of Kalambaka Station, our English-speaking driver will be waiting to take us to the Meteora Monasteries, located just 20 minutes away. During the drive, our driver will explain the origin and history of this monastic complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon reaching the top of the Meteora Mountains, we will have four hours to visit the monasteries: Great Meteoron, St. Nikolaos, Holy Trinity, St. Stephen, Varlaam, and Roussanou. Each monastery has unique characteristics and history, along with distinct works of art. We will admire the exterior of all and visit the interior of one or two monasteries.
After the visit, our driver will return us to Kalambaka train station, where you can rest until your return train departs. You will arrive back at Thessaloniki Station after spending a day exploring one of Greece's most beautiful locations.
Visiting the Monasteries
Some monasteries may be closed to the public, except on Saturdays and Sundays when all are open. Notably, the Great Meteor Monastery is closed on Tuesdays.
