Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of the Electra Palace Thessaloniki hotel to begin our guided tour of Thessaloniki.
First, we'll walk to the White Tower, an emblem of Thessaloniki that served as a defensive tower and prison before its destruction in 1866.
Next, we'll view the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, erected in 1973. This statue stands 6 meters (19 feet) high on a 5-meter (15 feet) high marble pedestal.
We will then pass by the OTE Tower, a 76-metre (249 feet) high telecommunications building, and explore the ruins of the Palace of Galerius, the Arch of Galerius, and the ancient Roman Forum.
Finally, we will discover the Byzantine churches of the Acheiropoietos and San Demetrio, the latter being part of the Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki, declared a World Heritage Site in 1988.
We will conclude the tour at the starting point, 2 hours after we begin.
