On this guided tour of Thessaloniki, discover the history of Greece's second most important city as we walk through its main streets and important monuments.
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of the Electra Palace Thessaloniki hotel and then start our guided tour of Thessaloniki.
First, we will walk to the White Tower, the emblem of Thessaloniki, which served as a defensive tower and prison until its destruction in 1866.
Next, we will see the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, erected in 1973 and standing 6 meters (19 feet) high on a 5-meter (15 feet) pedestal.
Following this, we will pass by the OTE Tower, a 76-metre (249 feet) high telecommunications building, and review the historical ruins of the Palace of Galerius, the Arch of Galerius, and the ancient Roman Forum.
Finally, we will discover the Byzantine churches of the Acheiropoietos and San Demetrio, the latter designated as a World Heritage Site in 1988.
We will conclude the tour at the starting point, 2 hours after the start of the activity.
