Mtskheta, Uplistsikhe & Gori Day Trip
Meet at the Avlabari metro station in Tbilisi at 9 am to visit Uplistsikhe, Gori, and Mtskheta. Uplistsikhe, meaning "the lord's fortress", features nearly 500 caves from the Iron Age to the late Middle Ages. At 1 pm, there will be free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to Gori, the birthplace of Stalin. Participants can explore the historic center and visit either the Gori Fortress or the Stalin Museum. The medieval citadel has archaeological evidence dating back several centuries BC.
Then, visit the Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with panoramic views over Mtskheta, Georgia's former capital. The history of the monastery includes its significance in bringing Christianity to Georgia. The tour concludes with a stop at the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, an Orthodox church in Mtskheta and the burial site of many Georgian monarchs.
Return to Tbilisi after a total of 10 hours.
