The Jvari Monastery in Mtskheta, the Uplistsikhe cave town, and the city of Gori are key Georgian landmarks. This tour offers a one-day exploration of these sites from Tbilisi.

Mtskheta, Uplistsikhe & Gori Day Trip

The tour begins at 9 am at the Avlabari metro station in Tbilisi. The first stop is Uplistsikhe, known as "the lord's fortress." Here, participants will explore nearly 500 caves dating from the Iron Age to the late Middle Ages. There will be free time at 1 pm for lunch.

In the afternoon, the group will proceed to Gori, historically significant as the birthplace of Stalin. Visitors will have time to explore the historic center, including Gori Fortress and the Stalin Museum, highlighting the city's rich history. Gori Fortress has archaeological evidence dating back several centuries BC.

The next destination is the Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with views over Mtskheta, the former capital of Georgia. The monastery is noted for its significance in the introduction of Christianity to the region. The tour concludes with a visit to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, the final resting place of many Georgian monarchs. After a total of 10 hours, the group will return to Tbilisi.
