Day Trip to Shkodra

  • 8 - 9 Stunden

Explore one of the oldest cities in Albania and discover its historical heritage with this day trip to Shkodra from Tirana.

Shkodra Day Trip

At the designated time, we'll meet at the stairs of the Albanian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. From there, we'll travel to Shkodra, the gateway to the Albanian Alps and the cultural capital of Albania.

After a journey of approximately 2 hours, we'll reach our destination. The first place we will see is Rozafa Castle, a fortress steeped in history. We'll explore the ruins of this castle, which was rebuilt by the Venetians and the Ottomans, while admiring the views of the rivers surrounding Shkodra.

Then, we'll reach the city center and stroll through the main streets of Shkodra. Here, you'll have 1 hour of free time to try a dish of Albanian cuisine and grab a bite to eat.

After lunch, we'll continue our tour by admiring the Lead Mosque, an important Ottoman structure, before visiting St. Stephen's Cathedral, which has a notable history as it was once home to both the Sports Palace and the seat of the Albanian Communist Women's Congress.

Before leaving Shkodra, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the city and buy a souvenir. We recommend visiting the Marubi National Museum of Photography and the local artisanal stands.

Finally, we'll begin our journey back to the starting point, concluding the trip 8-9 hours after it begins.
