Tour Overview

We will convene at an agreed-upon time adjacent to the Asakusa subway station, setting forth on our walking adventure through one of Tokyo’s most intriguing and historic locales.

Our initial stop will be the majestic Kaminarimon Gate, meaning “Gate of Thunder.” Here, we’ll take a moment to admire its striking statues and the enormous red lantern, reaching a height of nearly 12 m (39 ft). Passing through, we’ll find ourselves on Nakamise shopping street. As we walk, the enticing scent of freshly made pastries will invite us to sample local treats or explore the artisanal stalls tended by families for generations.

At the end of this bustling pathway lies the tour's centerpiece: Sensoji Temple, the capital's most significant and oldest Buddhist shrine. While we wander its grounds, our guide will illuminate its rich history. Did you know it attracts over 30 million visitors annually, making it the most frequented religious site globally? Just a stone's throw away is the Asakusa Shrine, a serene sanctuary honoring the founders of Sensoji.

Following this, we’ll enjoy a leisurely 15-minute stroll along the banks of the Sumida River to arrive at Ushijima Shrine. Here, locals often rub the statue of the “nade-ushi” ox to garner good fortune. You’re welcome to partake in this time-honored custom!

After this, we will continue our journey with a short ten-minute walk towards Tokyo Solamachi, a shopping complex filled with delightful cafes and unique boutiques, culminating at the base of the Tokyo Skytree, the highest tower in Japan.

This 3-hour tour will conclude at this significant landmark.
