On this day trip to Kamakura, we'll explore this city that was the political centre of medieval Japan. We'll tour its temples, take a rickshaw ride, and even rent a kimono!

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet in the Suica Penguin Square and board a train to Kamakura. The first stop will be at the Buddhist temple of Hase-Dera, where we'll make a short stop to admire the exterior, famous for its more than 50,000 small sculptures. Experience the atmosphere as you stroll through its caves, Buddhist halls, and its panoramic terrace with a view of the bay.

Next, we'll visit the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the second-largest Buddha sculpture in Japan, measuring over 42 ft (13 metres) and weighing 93 tons.

Afterwards, we'll go to the Tsurugaoka Hachiman temple-g?, the most important Shinto sanctuary in Kamakura. We'll leave you 40 minutes to explore the exterior of this 11th-century building and stroll through its gardens featuring cherry trees.

Finally, after 5 hours of exploring, we'll return to the meeting point, where you can either use your free train ticket to return to Tokyo or continue to enjoy the town at your leisure.
