Nikko Day Trip

This tour from Tokyo to Nikko will visit iconic landmarks including the Toshogu Temple, Kegon Waterfall, and Lake Chuzenji.

Tour Details

We will meet at a central location in Tokyo at the scheduled time. After a bus ride of approximately 2.5 hours, we will arrive at Nikko. The first stop is the sacred Shinkyo Bridge, leading to the Toshogu Temple, which houses the tomb of the first shogun of the Tokugawa clan. Information on the cultural significance of this figure will be provided.

We will explore the unique animal motifs present in Nikko’s temples, after which we will continue to the Kegon Waterfall. You will have about an hour for lunch, offering a chance to experience Japanese cuisine. The tour continues to Lake Chuzenji for beautiful views. Finally, we will return to Tokyo, concluding the 11-hour experience.

Itinerary Changes

Please note that the order of visits may vary. In adverse weather conditions, access to Kegon Waterfall may be restricted, leading to an alternative stop at Rinnoji Temple. In January and February, visits to Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji may be replaced with tours of Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan jinja shrine.

To see Kegon Waterfall up close, an elevator is available to access the area near the water, but it can be admired from a free platform during the stop.
