Tour Details
We’ll meet at a central spot in Tokyo and set off for Nikko. After approximately 2.5 hours by bus, we will arrive. First, we’ll cross the Shinkyo Bridge to reach the Toshogu Temple, which houses the tomb of the first shogun of the Tokugawa clan. We will discuss its significance in Japanese culture and the unique animal decorations present at Nikko’s temples. Next, we will visit the Kegon Waterfall, followed by about an hour of free time for lunch, where you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. After lunch, we’ll proceed to Lake Chuzenji, known for its stunning views.
We’ll conclude this 11-hour tour with a return trip to Tokyo, arriving back at the meeting point.
Tour + Lunch
During booking, you can select the option of a tour with lunch, including a menu of fried trout with soup, rice, and yuba, or à la carte depending on availability.
Itinerary Changes
The order of visits may vary for organizational reasons. Adverse weather may close the roads to Kegon Waterfall, requiring an alternative stop at Rinnoji Temple. In January and February, visits to Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji may be replaced with a scenic tour of Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan jinja shrine.
Kegon Waterfall
You can take an elevator to get closer to Kegon Waterfall, although it can be viewed from a free platform.
