Tour Overview

We will gather at a designated central location in Tokyo at the arranged time. Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city, we will embark on a scenic ride to the tranquil landscapes of Nikko.

After approximately 2.5 hours on the bus, we will arrive at our first stop. Our journey will begin with a crossing over the Shinkyo Bridge, a sacred landmark, leading us to the Toshogu Temple. It’s a significant Shinto shrine, housing the tomb of the Tokugawa clan's inaugural shogun. This will set the stage for a discussion on the cultural relevance of this historical figure.

We will share intriguing tidbits regarding the temples found in Nikko, including their unique animal motifs, which feature monkeys, cats, and dragons. This will be followed by a visit to the Kegon Waterfall, an awe-inspiring cascade that will undoubtedly captivate you.

As we delve into the fascinating details of Nikko’s religious structures—highlighting captivating stories and their exquisite animal representations—we will then move toward the stunning Kegon Waterfall, a natural gem that will leave you spellbound.

Close to the waterfall, you will enjoy around an hour of free time for lunch, providing an excellent opportunity to sample traditional Japanese flavors. Refreshed, we will proceed to Lake Chuzenji, a magnificent location on Nikko's outskirts that offers breathtaking vistas and fantastic photographic moments.

The tour culminates with our return to Tokyo, concluding this enriching 11-hour experience at the original meeting point.

Options for the Tour

During the booking process, you can select from the following options:

Tour without tickets or lunch: This option does not include admission tickets or lunch.Tour with tickets but without lunch: Choose this option for included entry tickets, excluding lunch.Tour with tickets and lunch included: This selection features both tickets and lunch, which comprises fried trout accompanied by soup, rice, and yuba. Depending on availability, you may also select items from the à la carte menu.

Potential changes in the itinerary

Please be aware that the sequence of the visits mentioned may be subject to adjustments for logistical reasons.

In cases where weather conditions are unfavorable, access to Kegon Waterfall may be restricted, which could require alterations to our route. In such instances, we will plan an alternative visit to the Rinnoji Temple.

Additionally, during January and February, due to weather restrictions, the visits to Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji might be replaced by a scenic tour of the Rinnoji Temple and the Futarasan jinja shrine.

Kegon Waterfall Experience

If you wish to get a closer look at Kegon Waterfall, an elevator is available to take you to the nearest viewing area. However, it's also possible to admire the waterfall from the free observation platform where we will make a stop.
