Nikko Day Trip

This tour from Tokyo to Nikko will take you to its main landmarks, including the Toshogu Temple, Kegon Waterfall, and Lake Chuzenji.

Tour Details

Meeting will be at a central location in Tokyo. After approximately 2.5 hours by bus, we will reach Nikko. Our first stop will be the Toshogu Temple, the Shinto shrine housing the tomb of the first shogun of the Tokugawa clan.

We will discuss the significance of this figure in Japanese culture and provide interesting facts about the temples of Nikko, including their unique animal decorations like monkeys, cats, and dragons. Next, we will visit the impressive Kegon Waterfall.

There will be about an hour of free time for lunch near the waterfall. Following this, we will explore Lake Chuzenji, known for its scenic views.

This 11-hour tour concludes with a return trip to Tokyo, arriving back at the meeting point.

During booking, you can opt for a tour with lunch. This includes a menu featuring fried trout, soup, rice, and yuba, with an à la carte option based on availability.

Itinerary Changes

The order of the visits may vary for organizational reasons. Adverse weather conditions may close roads to Kegon Waterfall, leading to an alternative stop at Rinnoji Temple.

An elevator provides access to the area closest to the waterfall, though it can also be viewed from the free platform where we will stop.
