Ever wondered what the Edo period was like in Japan? Join us on this private day trip to Kawagoe to explore "little Edo", an ancient castle town that has preserved its historic charm. You'll be accompanied by an exclusive guide who will explain the fascinating history and cultural highlights.

Private Day Trip to Kawagoe

After meeting your guide at Shunjuku station, you'll board the train for Kawagoe. The journey will take just under an hour. Upon arrival, we'll go directly to one of the town's main historical sites: Kita-in temple, an ancient Buddhist shrine built in 830, home to important Rakan sculptures.

After exploring the temple, we'll stroll through the bustling merchant streets, including Taisho Roman Street, where many buildings are over 100 years old, reflecting life in the 1910s and 20s.

We'll pass by the black houses of the merchants in the Ichiban-gai district, emblematic of the Edo period. Our visit will also include the Toki-No-Kane bell tower, a city symbol established in the 17th century.

Finally, we will visit Kashiya Yokocho, a street filled with stores selling traditional Japanese sweets. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a local snack before concluding the tour on Kashiya Yokocho street and returning to Tokyo independently.
