Are you eager to uncover the essence of a classic Japanese culinary delight? Join us in this sushi-making workshop in Tokyo, where you'll learn to craft your own nigiri and maki.
Workshop Overview
We'll commence our adventure at the designated time, convening at the Izumiya Akasaka building, where you will embark on your journey to become an authentic itamae, or Japanese chef. It’s time to don your chef's attire and immerse yourself in this sushi-making workshop!
The session kicks off with an in-depth look at how to prepare sushi rice. Discover the secrets behind achieving the ideal shari, a fundamental component of sushi. Did you know that the shape of the rice can profoundly influence the flavor? Once you grasp this technique, you're well on your way to mastering the art of sushi-making like a true itamae.
Your next challenge will involve grating fresh, authentic wasabi to appreciate its distinct flavor—follow the chef's instructions carefully, as mishandling may lead to unexpected tears!
As we progress, you'll delve into creating hand-rolled sushi with nori, featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients. You'll have the chance to savor an amazing array of sushi varieties, including uni, negitoro, hirame, kuruma-ebi, chutoro, and akami. Furthermore, a professional chef will demonstrate fish preparation and various sushi techniques, accompanied by an interpreter, ensuring you catch every valuable detail.
To round off this culinary journey, enjoy a special wakame udon and a complimentary drink of your choosing, whether that's beer, sake, cola, or green tea.
As we approach the conclusion of our workshop, which spans about 2 hours, you’ll have the opportunity to capture some memorable photographs at the counter.
