Humble Beginnings
Constructed in 1958, Tokyo Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and was initially the tallest structure in Japan. Designed by architect Tach? Nait?, it was made using recycled steel from dismantled American war tanks. The tower primarily served as a communication transmission tower.
