Tokyo Tower: the Best Views of the Japanese Capital
Located in the heart of the Japanese capital, the Tokyo Tower reaches a height of 333 meters (1,092 feet). Climbing to the tower's Observation Deck at 150 meters (492 feet) offers a unique view of the city.
Humble Beginnings
Built in 1958, Tokyo Tower was the tallest structure in Japan and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower. Designed by Japanese architect Tach? Nait?, it was constructed using recycled steel from dismantled American war tanks post-World War II. Originally serving as a transmission tower, it has played a crucial role in communication in Japan for decades.
What Can I See at Tokyo Tower?
Your ticket grants access to the tower's main observation deck at 150 m (492 feet), featuring 360-degree panoramas of the city. View landmarks such as the Imperial Palace and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. The Skywalk Window with glass flooring offers a unique perspective looking down. You can also visit the highest Shinto shrine in the capital.
During your visit, enjoy refreshments at the cafeteria and stop by the official store for souvenirs.
Opening Hours
Tokyo Tower is open daily from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm, with last access 30 minutes before closing.
