Tour Options
When making your reservation, you can choose between three different hiking routes. All routes start at 8 am from Calzada del Pacífico road in Toluca de Lerdo and include an English-speaking guide.
Tunnels Route (7 hours)
This 10-kilometer route begins with a hike through the volcanic landscape, featuring trails with fir, cedar, and pine trees. We will explore tunnels in the mountain and learn about their origin. The hike concludes at a lagoon over 9,500 feet (3100 meters) where we will take a 45-minute break for views of the environment. We will return to the parking area by 3 pm.
Cañada Route (8 hours)
This 7-kilometer hiking route follows a river down the volcano's slopes. We will explore clearings and tunnels and cross the river to reach a lake with views from over 9,500 feet (2,900 meters). A 45-minute break will be provided to enjoy the scenery. We will return to the parking area by 3 pm.
Hill Route (9 hours)
This 13-kilometer hiking route takes us through different slopes and old tunnels. At nearly 10,500 feet (3,200 meters), we will take a 45-minute break for photos. Walking along a river, we will reach a clearing for views of the park and continue along a forest trail to learn about local wildlife. We will finish the activity and return to the parking area by 5 pm.
Meeting Point
We will meet at 8 am on Calzada del Pacífico road. From there, you will follow the guide to the foothills of the Nevado de Toluca National Park to start the hike.
