Nevado de Toluca National Park Hikes

Tour Options

When making your reservation, you can choose between three different hiking routes. All routes start at 8 am from Calzada del Pacífico road in Toluca de Lerdo and include an English-speaking guide.

Tunnels Route (7 hours)

Upon arrival at the Nevado de Toluca National Park, we'll begin a 10-kilometer hike through the volcanic landscape, exploring trails with fir, cedar, and pine trees and tunnels in the mountains. We'll have a 45-minute break at a lagoon located over 9500 feet (3100 meters) for views. We'll return to the parking area by 3 pm.

Cañada Route (8 hours)

This 7-kilometer route follows the course of a river down the volcano, exploring clearings and tunnels along the way. After crossing the river to reach a lake at over 9,500 feet (2,900 meters), you'll have 45 minutes to enjoy the scenery. The activity will conclude with a return to the parking area by 3 pm.

Hill Route (9 hours)

This 13-kilometer hiking route ascends to nearly 10,500 feet (3,200 meters). A 45-minute stop will allow for relaxation and photos. We will walk along a river to a clearing and continue on a forest trail to learn about local wildlife. The activity ends at 5 pm upon returning to the parking area.

Meeting Point

We'll meet at 8 am on Calzada del Pacífico road. From there, follow the guide to the foothills of the Nevado de Toluca National Park to begin the hike.
