On this tour of Tomar, discover the iconic locations in this city in the Ribatejo province and enjoy its local food.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Tomar train station to begin our tour.
First, we'll visit the Pegões Aqueduct, which is 30 metres (98 feet) high and consists of 180 arches. Construction started in 1593 during the reign of Phillip I of Portugal.
Next, we'll go to Christ's Convent, a significant monument in Portugal's architecture that is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will spend about 2 hours visiting this monument and exploring its gardens.
Our next stop will be Tomar's historic centre. We’ll cross Sepra Pinto Street before arriving at Republic Square, known for its mosaic of black and white diamonds. Here, we will take a short break for you to grab something to eat.
We will then continue our tour around the Mata dos Sete Montes, a 39-hectare park featuring various trees, including judas, oak, and olive trees. A miniature replica of the towers of Christ's Convent is also located here.
Finally, we will conclude the tour at the starting point after a total of 7 hours.
