On this tour of Tomar, discover the most iconic locations in this beautiful city in the Ribatejo province and enjoy its local food.
Description
At the scheduled time we'll meet at the Tomar train station and begin our tour. First, we'll visit Christ's Convent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for approximately 2 hours, including a stroll through its gardens.
Next, we will proceed to Tomar's historic centre, crossing Sepra Pinto Street to reach Republic Square, known for its mosaic made of black and white diamonds. Here, we'll pause to grab something local to eat.
Our tour will continue through Mata dos Sete Montes, a 39-hectare park featuring various trees such as judas, oak, and olive trees. We will also see a miniature replica of the towers of Christ's Covent.
We will then visit the Pegões Aqueduct, which is 30 metres (98 feet) high and consists of 180 arches, built starting in 1593 during the reign of Phillip I of Portugal.
The final stop will be at the Castelo do Bode reservoir, which extends 60 kilometres (37 miles) between Tomar and surrounding towns, offering one of the most beautiful views of the area.
Ultimately, we'll conclude the tour after 10 or 11 hours at the original meeting point.
