Why Visit the Paleontological Museum?
The Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum, known as the MEF, is one of the main tourist attractions in Trelew, located in the province of Chubut. This museum exhibits many large dinosaur fossils discovered in the area and is recognized as one of the best in South America.
With your ticket to the Paleontological Museum of Trelew, you will access the skeletons of colossal prehistoric animals, including the Tyrannotitan Chubutensis from the mid Cretaceous period.
During your visit to the MEF, you will learn interesting facts about the dinosaurs of Patagonia, their diets, survival strategies, and adaptations to significant climate changes. Interactive panels throughout the museum will provide insights, enhancing your understanding of these prehistoric beings.
The exhibition is organized in a chronological sequence covering four stages: Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and Precambrian eras. Within each stage, fossils from different sub-periods are displayed. In the Mesozoic section, be sure to visit the rooms dedicated to the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods.
Museum Schedule
The MEF is open every day from 9 am to 7 pm. The last admission is at 5:30 pm.
