Hiking Expedition to El Dedo de Dios

We will convene at Parque das Laranjeiras at a time that suits you, embarking on a brief thirty-minute walk to the trailhead of our hiking route.

Upon reaching the trailhead, we’ll commence our descent along the hiking path leading to El Dedo de Dios, which translates to 'God's Finger.' This mountain ridge is also commonly dubbed Pico da Canastra. Over the next two and a half hours, we’ll traverse a distance of over 3.5 kilometers (approximately 2.2 miles), ultimately arriving at the summit to take in the breathtaking scenery of the Serra Gaucha.

Once we have soaked in the panoramic vistas, we’ll begin our return journey down the slopes of El Dedo de Dios. In this segment, we'll observe flora representative of arid ecosystems, showcasing various species of cacti. Throughout the trek, we will pause to explore and identify several botanical varieties.

Along the way, we’ll be treated to the calls of howler monkeys and the melodies of some local bird species, as this area is renowned for its rich biodiversity.

In conclusion, we’ll proceed back to the hiking initiation point before returning to Parque das Laranjeiras, completing our excursion approximately four and a half hours after our initial gathering.
