We'll pick you up from your hotel in Trieste or at a central meeting point to kick off our day trip into two key highlights of Slovenia: Postojna cave and Predjama castle. After crossing the border, we'll reach Postojna cave, a prime tourist attraction and one of Europe's most famous karst monuments, featuring the world's only underground electric train.

At Postojna, we can observe the famous cave inhabitant, the proteus. As we navigate the cave's tunnels, passageways, and galleries, we will see impressive stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years.

Next, we will proceed to Predjama castle, where we will admire this fortress dating back to the 13th century, built into a rocky wall 123 meters (400 feet) high. We'll discuss the architectural techniques of the Middle Ages and the significance of constructing a fortress at a cave entrance.

The castle was once a refuge for Erasmus de Lueg, who utilized its strong foundation against retaliation. We will share intriguing details about his connection to the castle during the tour.

After five hours exploring these Slovenian gems, we will conclude our day.
