Description

We will pick you up from your hotel in Trieste or a central meeting point to start our trip to two key highlights in Slovenia: Postojna cave and Predjama castle. After crossing the border, we will arrive at Postojna cave, a major tourist attraction and one of Europe's famous karst monuments. It features the world's only underground electric train.

At Postojna, we will see the proteus, a notable cave inhabitant, and navigate the cave's tunnels and galleries, adorned with stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years. After the cave visit, we will proceed to Predjama castle. We will admire this fortress, dating back to the 13th century, built into a rocky wall 123 meters high.

We will explore the medieval architectural techniques used to construct this solid structure and discuss the necessity of a fortress near a cave entrance. The castle served as a refuge for Erasmus de Lueg, which we will highlight during the tour. After five hours of exploration, the day will conclude.
