On 31 July, San Ignacio de Moxos celebrates the feast of its patron saint, featuring vibrant folklore, music, and dance during the Ichapekene festival in honor of San Ignacio de Loyola.
2 or 3 day Ichapekene Festival in San Ignacio de Moxos
Day 1
A pickup from your hotel in Trinidad at 6 am will commence a two-hour drive to San Ignacio de Moxos. Upon arrival, participants will check into the hotel and have breakfast. A town tour will follow, visiting the Missionary Church, the Cabildo Indigenal, the Museum of Moxos, and the School of Music, exploring the area's history and cultural fusion. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, after which mass will be held in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Following the mass, the Tintirintín, a legendary character, will lead the procession on horseback, accompanied by the Patron Saint and participants in colorful costumes.
Day 2
After breakfast, a hiking route to the Isirere lagoon will be explored, where participants can swim and learn about local legends. Lunch will follow, and then the group will head back to Trinidad, arriving at 5 pm.
3 day party
The extended option includes an additional day at the Ichapekene festival. Following the Isirere lagoon visit and lunch on the second day, participants will join the procession of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and have the evening free for dinner. On the third day, breakfast will be provided, and departure for Trinidad will occur, with drop-off at accommodations by 2 pm.
