Gran Mojos Birdwatching Activity

Embark on an exciting birdwatching journey from Trinidad to explore the Gran Mojos Park, one of Bolivia's diverse ecoregions, where the conservation of various endangered flora and fauna takes center stage.

Birdwatching Experience at Gran Mojos

Your adventure begins at 5 am with a pickup from your Trinidad hotel, followed by a jeep ride towards the municipality of Loreto, located approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the city.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the Gran Mojos Protected Area Visitor Centre, where you'll gain insights into the endangered species and the Indigenous communities residing in this unique environment.

Breakfast will be served before we proceed to a nearby hacienda in search of the rare blue-throated macaws, a species that is native to the Moxos plains and has an estimated population of only 250 individuals left in the wild.

After our birdwatching session, we'll return to Loreto for lunch featuring fish and fruit, before heading back to Trinidad. You can expect to be dropped off at your hotel around 1 pm.

Extended 3-Day Tour

Opting for the 3-day tour allows you to delve deeper into the protected wildlife of the region. The first day mirrors the itinerary detailed above.

On the second day, your pickup will occur again at 5 am as we travel to another hacienda, where you'll observe the vibrant multicoloured thrushes. Following a delightful lunch, we will return to Trinidad while keeping an eye out for various bird species along the way.

The third day resumes at 5 am with another hotel pickup. This time, we will explore the Ibare-Mamoré municipal protected area, which is home to a diverse range of birds and mammals, including freshwater dolphins. Concluding the tour, we will make our way back to Trinidad and drop you off at your accommodation around 3 pm.
