Hiking trails, boat trips, birdwatching, sport fishing await us on our 1 or 2-day guided tour of the Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area in Bolivia.

Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area Guided Tour

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and set off for Puerto Ballivián, the gateway to the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area. After traveling 5 miles (8 kilometers), we'll arrive at Puerto Ballivián and board a boat for a 2-hour cruise along the Ibaré River, also known as the River of the Birds.

We will visit the town of Loma Suárez and the community of San Carlos, explore the Mapajo natural monument, and observe tropical plant crops. We will observe wildlife, including species endemic to the Amazon, such as Manguari heron, the bato, and river heron. The tour will culminate at the mouth of the Mamoré River, where we can see freshwater dolphins and swim in warm water.

A picnic lunch will be served before we return to Trinidad, reaching your hotel at 4 pm.

2-Day Tour

Choosing the 2-day option allows for further exploration of the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area. After lunch on the boat, we will return to the community of San Carlos for dinner with Florencio the farmer. We will then venture into the Bolivian Amazon for camping. The next day includes breakfast, hiking around the Usuni Lagoon, sport fishing, and enjoying a lunch of the catch before returning to Puerto Ballivián for the journey back to your hotel in the afternoon.
