Moxos Jesuit Missions & Coitarama Lagoon
At 6 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad to visit the towns of San Javier and San Pedro, which are ancient Jesuit reductions in the Moxos province of southern Bolivia.
Our first destination is San Javier, located on the right bank of the Mamoré River and one of the first Jesuit missions in Moxos. Here, we will visit the Church of San Javier and learn about the colony's history. A breakfast stop will occur en route to our next destination.
Upon arrival at the reduction of San Pedro, we will admire the restored church that stands on the ruins of the old mission. A lunch of fried fish or dried meat, along with a fruity drink, will be provided here.
We will then proceed to the Coitarama Lagoon, also known as Pistola Lake, where we will discover its unique name. In this area, wildlife such as insects, endemic birds, and local mammals can be observed.
If weather conditions prevent access to the lake, we will instead visit the banks of the Ipuru River to possibly see freshwater dolphins swimming in the water.
We will return to Trinidad and drop you off at your hotel around 6 pm.
