Moxos Jesuit Missions & Coitarama Lagoon
Pickup at 6 am from your hotel in Trinidad to head north to San Javier and San Pedro. Both are ancient Jesuit reductions in the Moxos province of southern Bolivia.
First destination, San Javier, on the right bank of the Mamoré River, was one of the first missions. Visit the Church of San Javier to learn about the history before stopping for breakfast.
At the reduction of San Pedro, we will admire the restored church from the ruins of the old mission. A lunch of fried fish or dried meat with a fruity drink will be provided here.
Next, we travel to Coitarama Lagoon (also known as Pistola Lake), where we will learn about its unique name and admire the wildlife, including endemic birds and mammals along its shores.
If weather conditions prevent access to the lagoon, we will proceed to the banks of the Ipuru River to spot freshwater dolphins.
Return to Trinidad and drop off at your hotel around 6 pm.
