Tropea Guided Tour
At the designated time, we will meet at Largo San Michele to begin the guided tour. Tropea is noted for its scenic beauty, and we will walk through its quaint alleys, admiring the architecture. Key highlights include the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola, the historic center, and the sandy beaches.
Our first stop will be the Cathedral of Maria Santissima di Romania, built in the 12th century by the Normans. This temple was later transformed into Baroque style in the 17th century and extended by 12 meters. It has experienced significant damage from earthquakes and has undergone several restorations over time.
We will then visit Tropea's most picturesque viewpoints, where you can capture stunning views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and its blue waters.
We will also approach the famous Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola. The earliest writings about the monastery date back to the 11th century, but it is believed to have been inhabited by hermits between the 7th and 8th centuries. Various interesting facts will be shared throughout the tour.
After two and a half hours, we will conclude the guided tour of Tropea at the starting point.
