Tropea Guided Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at Largo San Michele to begin this guided tour of Tropea. Join us as we explore this notable town.
We'll start with a walk through the alleys of Tropea, observing its architecture. This city is recognized for the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola, its historic center, and white sandy beaches.
Next, we'll stop in front of the Cathedral of Maria Santissima di Romania, built in the 12th century by the Normans. This temple was transformed into Baroque style during the 17th century and extended by 12 meters. It has been damaged by several earthquakes and restored multiple times throughout history.
As we proceed, we will visit the most beautiful viewpoints of Tropea. The views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and its blue waters are breathtaking.
We will also approach the famous Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola. Although the first records of this monastery date back to the 11th century, it is believed that the rock it stands on was inhabited by hermits between the 7th and 8th centuries. Many interesting facts will be shared during the tour.
After two and a half hours, we will conclude the guided tour of Tropea back at the meeting point.
