Cascas Excursion
- 14 Stunden
"If he came to Cascas and didn't drink wine, what did he come for?" This saying highlights Cascas, the Peruvian capital of grapes and wine, explored on this excursion from Trujillo.
Cascas Excursion
We will meet in the Plaza de Armas at 6:40 am and depart for the town of Cascas, approximately a 2-hour 30-minute drive from Trujillo. We will stop in Sausal for a break and breakfast.
Cascas is renowned as the capital of grapes and wine and was the first wine-producing city in Peru, significantly contributing to the country's participation in the international market with products like burgundies, rosés, and moscatos. The region benefits from an ideal climate for grape cultivation.
During the tour, we will visit Cristo de las Rocas, a natural monument resembling the face of Jesus Christ, and the Tree of a Thousand Roots, a millenary tree with roots above ground. We will also explore El Molino Waterfall and the Corlas fish farm, where you will have free time for lunch on your own.
Next, we will proceed to Cascas Square and travel to one of the area's famous vineyards for a session on the significance of winegrowing and a tasting of local wines.
Finally, we will return to Trujillo, arriving back at approximately 8 pm.
