At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trujillo and set off on our day trip to Chan Chan and Huanchaco, located 30 minutes from Trujillo.
First, we'll visit the beach to watch fishermen using their caballito de totora reed watercraft. You will have the opportunity to try this traditional fishing technique.
Next, we will visit huachaques, totora reed farms, to learn about the uses and benefits of this aquatic plant. Afterwards, we will see the Church of the Virgen del Socorro for a view of Huanchaco Bay.
For lunch, we will stop at a nearby restaurant for a two-course meal accompanied by a local drink.
After lunch, we will explore the Chan Chan citadel, the largest mud city in the world. We will visit the pre-Columbian ruins of the Nik Ann Palace with its reliefs depicting birds and fish, and learn about the secret passages used for escape during Inca attacks.
