Minho River Boat Tour
At the indicated time, we will meet at the fishing wharf in Tui to board a traditional wooden boat and set sail down the Minho River. This journey will provide views of the shorelines of the river that separates Spain from Portugal.
From the boat, we will observe the landscapes of Tui and the Santa Maria Cathedral, a structure dating back to the 12th century. We will sail under the Tui International Bridge, referred to as "Friendship Bridge" in Portugal, which connects the two countries and spans the Minho River. On the Portuguese side, we will view the town of Valença do Minho, notable for its fortress, which has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, retaining Gothic and Baroque architectural features.
As we continue along the river, we will learn about the flora and fauna in Minho. The mineral-rich riverbed supports a diverse ecosystem. We will identify various natural habitats of plants and animals on both sides of the river.
After 45 minutes, we will conclude the experience back at the dock.
