Tour Details
At the indicated time, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Tunis to begin your guided tour of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, two significant points of interest in Tunisia.
The first stop will be the archaeological site of ancient Carthage. At Byrsa hill, you'll see the first ruins of this historic capital, founded by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BCE and later occupied by the Romans and Arabs. With your English-speaking guide, you'll explore the remains of ancient Carthage, focusing on its history and visiting key ruins, including the commercial and military ports crucial for Carthaginian naval control.
Next, you will visit the Tophet of Carthage, a sacred site that served as a cemetery and sanctuary for deities Tanit and Baal. Here, you can admire ancient Carthaginian funerary and religious artwork.
After visiting the Tophet, you will travel to the coastal town of Sidi Bou Said, just ten minutes from Carthage. As you walk through its labyrinthine lanes, you'll notice the typical whitewashed houses contrasting with the blue doors and windows and the azure Mediterranean Sea visible from the viewpoints.
Sidi Bou Said is also known for its vibrant atmosphere, with shops and cafes where you can shop for souvenirs or enjoy tea or coffee while taking in the views.
After exploring Sidi Bou Said, you'll return to Tunis and be dropped off at your hotel after a total of 4 hours.
