The magnificent amphitheatre of El Jem, the elegant Great Mosque of Kairouan, and the magical desert town of Douz await you on this 2-day tour of southern Tunisia.

Description

Day 1: El Jem – Matmata – Douz

After an early morning hotel pickup, we will visit the amphitheatre of El Jem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its historic gladiatorial battles. The tour continues to the cave-houses of Matmata, carved into rocks for shelter from sand storms. After an hour for lunch in Matmata, we will proceed to the Douz desert, where you can opt for an additional camel or quad bike ride. The day ends in Douz, with accommodation and dinner included at a local hotel.

Day 2: Douz – Chott Djerid – Oasis – Kairouan

After breakfast in Douz, we will visit the salty lake of Chott Djerid and then head to the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza. Lunch will be provided before we visit the holy city of Kairouan to see the Great Mosque with its large domes. Following the tour, we will return to the capital city and drop you off at your booked hotel.

The trip includes one night's accommodation with dinner at the Sahara Douz Hotel or similar accommodation in Douz.
