The magnificent amphitheatre of El Jem, the elegant Great Mosque of Kairouan, and the magical desert town of Douz await you on this fantastic 2-day tour of southern Tunisia.

Description

Day 1: El Jem – Matmata – Douz

After picking you up from your hotel early in the morning, we'll head to the amphitheatre of El Jem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will learn about gladiatorial battles. The tour continues to Matmata to discover cave-houses carved into rocks for shelter against sandstorms.

Following a free hour for lunch in Matmata, we proceed to the Douz desert. Here, you have the option for an extra fee to take a camel or quad bike ride. The day concludes in Douz, where you will have dinner and stay at a local hotel overnight.

Day 2: Douz – Chott Djerid – Oasis – Kairouan

After breakfast in Douz, we depart for Chott Djerid to visit the salty lake. We then head to the Atlas range to visit the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza.

Following lunch, we will visit the holy city of Kairouan to see the Great Mosque with its large domes. After completing our tour, we return to the capital city and drop you off at your hotel.
