Zaghouan Day Trip Itinerary

Your day trip will begin at 8 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Tunis. After approximately a thirty-minute drive, you will arrive at the Roman aqueduct of Zaghouan.

In the second century, under Emperor Hadrian, the Roman Empire faced water supply issues in northern Africa, leading to the construction of an aqueduct connecting a water source at Zaghouan with the ancient city of Carthage. Many parts of the aqueduct remain today, and you will explore this engineering marvel while your guide explains its construction and design.

After exploring the aqueduct, you will visit the outskirts of modern Zaghouan to see the Roman Water Temple, also built under Emperor Hadrian. While admiring the curved portico, your guide will explain the significance of this sacred spring in ancient times.

Following your visit to the Water Temple, you will enjoy a traditional meal of Turkish specialties at a restaurant in central Zaghouan, featuring a fusion of Mediterranean and Arab cuisines.

After your meal, you will return to Tunis, with a drop-off at your hotel around 5 pm.
