Zaghouan Day Trip Itinerary

Your day trip starts at 8 am with pickup from your hotel in Tunis. After a thirty-minute drive, the first stop is the Roman aqueduct of Zaghouan.

In the second century, under Emperor Hadrian, the Roman Empire faced a water supply issue in northern Africa. They constructed an aqueduct connecting a water source at Zaghouan to Carthage. Much of the aqueduct still stands today, allowing for exploration of this engineering masterpiece, while your guide explains its innovative construction and design.

Next, you'll visit the outskirts of modern Zaghouan to another archaeological site: the Roman Water Temple, also commissioned by Hadrian. Your guide will discuss the importance of this sacred spring in ancient times as you view the portico.

After touring the Water Temple, you'll enjoy a traditional meal of Turkish specialities at a restaurant in central Zaghouan, featuring a blend of Mediterranean and Arab cuisines.

Post-meal, you will return to Tunis, with drop-off at your hotel around 5 pm.
