San Lorenzo Church Guided Visit
We will meet at the entrance to the church and begin our guided visit of one of Úbeda's historic buildings. San Lorenzo Church, built on the Almohad wall, features crypts, a parapet, and a bell tower.
During the tour, we will explore the church, which has over 800 years of history. Highlights include the nave, sacristy, doorway to the sacristy, and murals. The alfarje panelled ceiling from the Mudejar period is a notable feature.
San Lorenzo Church has been closed for almost a century and is currently undergoing restoration and archaeological work. The building showcases a blend of architectural styles from Romanesque to Baroque, reflecting diverse cultures.
After visiting the crypts, we will return to the main floor and head outside. Adjacent to the church is a viewpoint offering views of Úbeda's hills and the Guadalquivir Valley, framed by orchards and white farmhouses.
In the distance, we can see the Cazorla and Segura mountain ranges. The tour concludes with the picturesque sunset casting a warm glow over the domes and towers of Úbeda's World Heritage Site.
