Explore the highest and largest salt desert in the world on this 2-day trip to the Salar de Uyuni, located at 5,000 metres (16,404 feet) above sea level.
Description
Day 1
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Uyuni to begin the 2-day tour of the Uyuni Salt Flat.
The tour begins at the Train Cemetery, where the guide will explain why many trains and locomotives from the late 19th and early 20th centuries remain abandoned.
Next, we will visit Salar de Uyuni, covering almost 11,000 square kilometres (4247 square miles). Attractions include Colchani, salt piles, and the first hotel made of salt, now a museum.
Lunch will be served in the salt desert, combining Bolivian cuisine with the unique landscape. Following lunch, we will hike around Isla Incahuasi, where we can observe giant cacti up to 10 metres (32 feet) high.
We will conclude the day watching the sunset before returning to the hotel around 7 pm.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will visit the colonial Iglesia de Tomave church, known for its baroque architecture and historical significance during the War of the Pacific.
Next is a visit to the Saruvo hot springs for a relaxing bath. Following this stop, we will explore the Laguna K'asilla and Laguna Verde.
After lunch, we will journey back to Uyuni, arriving around 6 pm, concluding our 2-day tour of the Salar de Uyuni.
