Travel to the province of Castellón to explore the medieval town of Morella and Peñíscola, focusing on the history of Pope Luna.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your selected meeting point in central Valencia and proceed north to Morella. The journey lasts just over two hours, following the coastline to this hilltop town rich in medieval history.

We'll stroll through the steep cobblestone streets and stop at local craft stalls, ending at the historic castle which dates back to the 13th century. This fortress was once significant for the Crown of Aragon, and you will have free time to explore Morella and sample local cuisine.

After lunch, we will head east to Peñíscola, where you will learn about its origins and the controversial figure of Pope Luna.

Upon arrival, our first stop will be the hilltop castle, which served as Pope Luna's palace and library. Further exploring will include the old town, showcasing Islamic, Roman, and Templar architecture, along the old protective wall of the city.

After a full day of exploration, we'll return to Valencia and drop you off at your selected meeting point.
