Travel to the province of Castellón to explore the medieval town of Morella and Peñíscola, learning about the history of Pope Luna.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your chosen meeting point in Valencia and head north towards Morella. The journey takes over two hours, parallel to the coastline. Morella is a walled, hill-top town.

We will walk through the cobblestone streets and visit local craft stalls, ending at the historic castle at the town's peak, where El Cid Campeador once stayed. You will enter this 13th-century Islamic fortress and learn about its significance to the Crown of Aragon. After the castle tour, you will have free time to explore Morella and try local cuisine.

After lunch, we will proceed to Peñíscola, where we will discuss the origins of this city and the figure of Pope Luna. We will visit the castle that served as his palace and personal library, learning more about this controversial figure.

Our tour will continue in the old town of Peñíscola, showcasing Islamic, Roman, and Templar architecture, including the old city wall. After a full day of exploration, we will return to Valencia and drop you off at your selected meeting point.
