Valletta Street Food Exploration

The journey begins at the Maltese Parliament, where we will commence our delightful street food exploration around Valletta. Are you prepared to sample the exquisite dishes of Maltese cuisine?

As we wander through the island's capital, we will visit several prominent sites, including the Palace of the Grand Master and the Upper Barracca Gardens. Along our path, there will be opportunities to enjoy a variety of street food stalls. Our first tasting will be the pastizzi, a savory puff pastry typically filled with ricotta or pea filling.

Continuing our journey, we will walk down Mercaderes Street to our next stop, where we will enjoy ftira, a fermented bread stuffed with ingredients such as sardines, tuna, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and olives. Interestingly, this historic Maltese bread has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO!

During our experience, we will take in the sights of other cultural landmarks like the stunning St. John's Co-Cathedral, a baroque masterpiece that highlights the history of the Knights of St. John. We will also pass through Republic Square and St. George's Square. Here, we’ll stop to taste gbejniet, a traditional Maltese cheese, alongside bigilla, the local variation of hummus.

To conclude our food journey, we will indulge in a selection of traditional Maltese desserts, complemented by a refreshing local soft drink known as Kinnie, as well as Malta’s beloved beer.

At the end of this 3-hour culinary exploration, with satisfied appetites, we will return to our starting location.
