Castello Neighbourhood Tour

At the scheduled time, we will meet at Campo de la Maddalena to begin our tour of the Castello neighborhood.

During the guided tour, we will explore the dual aspects of Castello, from its tourist areas to its humble streets. We will discuss the heyday of this neighborhood in the 13th century, prompted by the construction of the Arsenale, which became the largest naval complex in Europe.

The walk includes a view of the Basilica of St. John and St. Paul, the largest church in Venice, and share the legend associated with this Dominican temple linked to Jacopo Tiepol.

We will also visit one of the most beautiful bookstores in Venice and view the exteriors of the parish of Santa Maria Formosa, the Scuola Grande di San Marco, and other significant buildings in Castello.

Additionally, we will see the Doge's Palace, a key monument that served as the Seat of the Government, the Court of Justice, and more.

The tour will conclude at via Garibaldi after 1.5-2 hours of sightseeing.
