Description

At the time indicated, we'll meet at Campo San Zaccaria and start the tour of St. Mark's Basilica and the Pala D’Oro. Upon arrival, we'll proceed to St. Mark's Basilica, where we will admire its facade and learn about its significance as the most important temple in Venice.

Originally built as an extension of the Ducal Palace, the basilica houses the remains of St. Mark the Apostle, brought from Alexandria. The Byzantine-style architecture will be a highlight of our visit.

Inside, we will see magnificent mosaics in the Ascension dome and the Atrium, depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament. The tour will also include the Pala D'Oro, a masterpiece of Byzantine craftsmanship. We will observe the altarpiece of the main altar of St. Mark's, made of gold, silver, enamel, and precious stones.

After an hour of exploring St. Mark's Basilica, the tour will conclude.
