San Juan de Ulua Castle Tour

Discover the castle of San Juan de Ulúa on our guided tour from Veracruz. This fortress has served various roles, including dock, warehouse, military barracks, prison, and government seat.

Tour Details

We will meet at 12 pm at the Plaza Acuario in Veracruz and take transport to San Juan de Ulúa. Upon arrival at this island next to the port of Veracruz, we will begin our guided tour of this 500-year-old fortress.

During its time as a prison, San Juan de Ulúa became notorious. We will explore the conditions for prisoners and visit their cells.

You will learn about Chucho el Roto and the Mulatto of Córdoba, two legendary inmates, and their stories.

We will also visit the Tower of San Pedro for views of the coast and the port, providing an opportunity for photographs.

After the guided tour, transport will be provided back to Plaza Acuario, arriving in approximately 30 minutes.
