Gil Eannes Naval Museum
With this ticket, you'll have access to the Gil Eannes ship, moored in Viana do Castelo, converted into a museum. You will explore various facilities of the ship such as the kitchen, operating theatre, chapel, and engine room.
From its first voyage in 1955 until its last trip to Brazil in 1973, the vessel was used for multiple functions. This flagship assisted cod fishermen on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and Greenland, served as a hospital ship, a tug boat, and even as an icebreaker.
You will learn about its predecessor, an auxiliary cruise ship for the Portuguese Navy during World War I, and discover its history and secrets of its voyages.
