Gil Eannes Naval Museum
With this ticket, you'll have access to the Gil Eannes ship, moored in Viana do Castelo, which has been converted into a museum. You will explore various facilities including the kitchen, operating theatre, chapel, and engine room.
The vessel served from its first voyage in 1955 to its last diplomatic trip to Brazil in 1973, fulfilling roles such as assisting cod fishermen on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and Greenland, functioning as a hospital ship, a tug boat, and even as an icebreaker.
You will learn about its predecessor, an auxiliary cruise ship for the Portuguese Navy during World War I, and discover the history and secrets of its voyages.
