At the indicated time, we'll meet in the vicinity of the Hofburg Palace, the largest palace in Vienna and the former official residence of the Habsburgs. The tour includes a visit to the Sissi Museum, showcasing a collection of items reflecting the private life of Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria.
Elisabeth, born in Munich in 1837, was a significant European monarch of the late 19th century. After her death in Geneva in 1898, her popularity grew, leading to numerous books, series, and films about her life.
The museum located in the imperial apartments features over 300 objects. Among them are iconic dresses, jewellery, and portraits of Empress Sissi, including a dressing table, her childhood harp, and the bed she used. Noteworthy items include original Sissi costumes and a 63-piece travel kit utilized during her travels, as well as a reconstruction of the imperial train carriage.
After visiting the museum, we'll take a short walk around the grounds of the Hofburg Palace to discover more about Sissi. The tour lasts between 2.5 and 2 hours and 50 minutes, concluding outside the palace.
