Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the main entrance of the Upper Belvedere Palace to start our guided tour. Built in the 18th century by Prince Eugene of Savoy, the Belvedere Palace is a significant Baroque palace complex designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. The Upper and Lower Belvedere are connected by a garden, with the Upper Belvedere originally serving as a reception and banquet hall, showcasing a blend of French and Italian architectural influences.
Today, the palace houses one of Austria’s finest art collections. Accompanied by our guide, we will visit the Art Gallery, featuring artwork from medieval times to the 19th century. Highlights include pieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Munch, Goya, Schiele, and the world’s largest collection of works by Gustav Klimt, including “The Kiss”, “Judith”, and “Sonja Knips”.
We will then visit the Marble Hall, where the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955, featuring a fresco by Carlo Carlone completed in 1723. Following this, we'll stroll through the palace gardens, enjoying fountains, statues, and flowerbeds, with views of the palace and the city of Vienna.
The tour will conclude after 1.5 to 2 hours.
