Cruel murders and dark secrets lurk in the dark corners of Vienna's old town. Come, if you dare, and discover the mysteries and eerie legends of Austria's capital.

Vienna Ghosts and Legends Tour

We'll meet at Helmut Zilk Square to begin this chilling tour of the mysteries and legends in Vienna.

First, we'll stop in front of the Vienna State Opera and discuss the expulsion of the Jews by the Nazis and the building's condition post-World War II bombings. Many gory facts lie behind this building's walls.

Next, we’ll walk along Augustinerstrasse to uncover the story of Erzsébet Báthory, known as the 'Blood Countess,' who was responsible for the deaths of over 30 young women due to her obsession with beauty.

During the tour, we'll pass St. Joseph's Square and St. Michael's Square to reach the parish of the Friars Minor, where cannonball holes from historical conflicts can still be seen.

We will also explore the House of the Five Murders and stop at Am Hof square, the previous site of public executions in the city.

We will discover mysteries at Hoher Markt, Heiligenkreuzerhof, Schönlatern alley, and the 'bloody alley,' which witnessed a massacre during the time of the Knights Templar.

Lastly, we will arrive at St. Stephen's Cathedral to discuss the significance of the gargoyles on its façade. This hour-and-a-half tour will conclude at the church entrance.
