Cruel murders and dark secrets lurk in the dark corners of Vienna's old town. Come, if you dare, and discover the mysteries and eerie legends of Austria's capital.

Vienna Ghosts and Legends Tour

We'll meet at Helmut Zilk Square at the indicated time to begin this tour of the mysteries and legends in Vienna. Are you ready?

First, we'll stop in front of the Vienna State Opera, where we will recall the expulsion of the Jews by the Nazis and the building's condition after the bombings of World War II. This and other grim facts are hidden behind this building's walls.

Next, we'll walk along Augustinerstrasse to learn about Erzsébet Báthory, known as the 'Blood Countess,' who murdered over 30 young women due to her obsession with beauty.

During the tour, we'll pass St. Joseph's Square and St. Michael's Square to reach the parish of the Friars Minor, where cannonball holes from the war between the Habsburg Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire are still visible.

We will then uncover the hidden meaning behind the name of the House of the Five Murders and stop at Am Hof square, the former site of public executions.

Additionally, we will explore the mysteries at Hoher Markt, the Heiligenkreuzerhof building, Schönlatern alley, and the 'bloody alley,' associated with a massacre from the Knights Templar era.

The tour will conclude at St. Stephen's Cathedral, where we will discuss the significance of the gargoyles on its façade. After an hour-and-a-half route, the tour will end at the entrance to the church.
