Sail along the coast of São Miguel and discover the wildlife of this Azores island on this birdwatching boat tour.
Azores Marine Birdwatching Expedition
We'll meet at 8 am at the port in Vila Franca do Campo for an introduction to the birds of the Azores. This archipelago has notable ornithological diversity.
After learning about the main bird species and migratory flows, we will embark on a zodiac tour along the coast of São Miguel. This area is home to the largest colonies of birds. With a naturalist guide, we'll distinguish notable endemic birds.
While cruising alongside São Miguel, we will see sandpipers, shearwaters, egrets, and buzzards. We will provide high-precision binoculars for close observation.
The tour extends to Vila Franca do Campo Islet, where we will identify other species like wagtails, known for their seasonal feather color changes.
Finally, we will return to the departure pier at 11 am.
