River Cruise to Alcoutim

Discover the unique scenery of the Portuguese border with Spain on this boat cruise to Alcoutim along the Guadiana River from Vila Real de Santo António!

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the river port in Vila Real de Santo António, ready to start the cruise. Once on board the boat, we'll set sail along the Guadiana River, admiring the beautiful scenery lining its banks and the waterfowl that inhabit the reeds. The boat trip will take us to see different riverside villages.

After a 2-hour cruise along the Guadiana River, we'll make a stop in Alcoutim. In this village, we'll be welcomed by a statue known as O Contrabandista, in honor of the smuggling activity on the border for many years.

Here, you'll have two hours to explore the island at your own pace. You can do some shopping, take a dip in the river, or visit Sanlúcar de Guadiana, a Spanish village located just in front of Alcoutim.

Following this, we'll reconvene and go to a nearby restaurant for a local lunch. The menu will include pâté, olives, chorizo, and cheese as an appetizer, grilled cod with salad or roast pork leg as the main course, and pudding for dessert. Wine, soft drinks, and water will be available.

Finally, we'll take the boat back to Vila Real de Santo António, where we'll arrive 7 hours later.
