With this hiking route through the Ecological Park La Periquera, we'll discover a landscape featuring waterfalls and oak forests in Boyacá.

Hiking in La Periquera Ecological Park

We'll meet at the time of your choice at Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva and travel to La Periquera Ecological Park, a nature reserve where we'll take a hiking route.

Upon arrival, we'll enter a 2-kilometre-long (1.2 miles) path with oak trees, escenillos, rosemary, mortillos, and chilcos, along with endemic plants.

We'll reach the Cebada riverbed, which features several waterfalls, including one that is 15 metres high (49 feet), called La Periquera. The origin of its name will be explained during the hike.

During the walk, you may encounter animals such as wild rabbits, armadillos, ocelots, and weasels.

After connecting with Colombian nature, we'll return to our starting point, with an estimated total activity time of six hours.
