Hiking in La Periquera Ecological Park
We will meet at your chosen time at Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva and travel to La Periquera Ecological Park, a nature reserve where we will take a hiking route.
Upon arrival, we will enter a 2-kilometre-long (1.2 miles) path featuring oak trees, escenillos, rosemary, mortillos, and chilcos, along with various endemic plants.
We will reach the Cebada riverbed, which traverses the park and forms several waterfalls. We will have the opportunity to see three waterfalls, one of which is 15 metres high (49 feet), known as La Periquera. The origin of its name will be revealed during the hike.
Throughout the walk, you may encounter wildlife such as wild rabbits, armadillos, ocelots, and weasels.
After connecting with Colombian nature, we will return to our starting point. The total duration of the activity is approximately six hours.
