Hiking in Las Cárcavas of Villa de Leyva
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva. From there, we'll walk to the outskirts of the municipality to embark on a hiking route through Las Cárcavas, a group of yellow and brown rock formations.
For three hours, we'll enjoy a walk through semi-desert and eroded landscapes that contrast with the surrounding forests. We'll see formations of all types as we advance along the Canal de los Españoles, an old road used by mules loaded with agricultural products.
We'll reach the viewpoint of Las Cárcavas, located at 1600 metres above sea level, from where we'll have views of the rugged landscape. Some rocks are crater-shaped and resemble lunar landscapes. Listen to the explanations! We'll take a break for pictures and to hear some legends of the area.
Finally, we'll conclude the experience with our return to the meeting point.
